Dr David Butler

David found renewables early in his career when his artificial intelligence PhD evolved into a 2006 Targa Tasmania hydrogen car. At Hydro Tasmania he delivered Australia's first utility scale batteries, designed early wind farms, constructed world leading renewable microgrids, led trials of low carbon fuels and developed decarbonisation roadmaps for communities and small nations. At Tas Networks he championed community energy, led future strategy, advanced hydrogen microgrid projects and secured funding for Tasmania’s first neighbourhood batteries. CRRC is a large multinational that manufactures all things electrification and renewables, with a Victorian government backed factory in Gippsland to locally manufacture traction power converters for Melbourne’s new metro trains. As Head of Energy, David’s current mission to help business take the energy transition to the next level, through practical advice and locally made affordable equipment.
