Host Geoff Matthews interviews Ray Tomlinson, Director of JT Group and SummitBWT, about his journey to electrify and decarbonize high-rise window and building washing. Their efforts have resulted in propriety high pressure washes that run from rechargeable batteries and use 85% less water and have zero-runoff to storm water drains.
Dr. David Lim, Vice president of Application Engineering for E1 Marine, talks with Geoff Matthews about the use of methanol as an alternative energy carrier for marine purposes, and E1 Marine’s methanol to hydrogen generators.
The AutoGrid Flex™ digital platform is used to manage the largest behavioral demand response program in the world (700,000 households and growing), as well as distributed energy management systems (DERMS), virtual power plants, grid-scale storage, microgrids, and more. In 2022, AutoGrid was acquired by electrical hardware and software giant Schneider Electric.
Last year 10,000 times more wind generation capacity was installed than wave generation capacity. This doesn’t change the fact that wave motion energy is extremely constant and almost limitless, and we need it now more than ever. We talk to a wave motion engineer and pioneer and ask him the hard question, “why so little progress”. We also discuss if wave energy’s time is yet to come.
We interview Kristy Battista, CTO Global & GM Australia, of Allume Energy, an Australian company that’s developed the world's first behind-the-meter solar-sharing technology, for multi-tenanted buildings. Solshare solves the problem of how tenants of industrial parks and business centres can decarbonise and be part of the energy transition, via collectively installing and sharing the benefits of solar energy, when they may not even own the roof space above them.
We interview Lynelle Johnson MD of E Class Outboards, an Australian manufacturer and a pioneer in the electrification of marine outboard motors. The case for electrification of outboard motors is compelling and it’s interesting that development to date has been left to entrepreneurs like EClass Outboards rather than being led by the large incumbent manufacturers.
We interview Adrian Jones one of the founders of Blocktexx, an Australian company that has developed leading edge technology that recovers polyester and cellulose from textiles and clothing.
Their process can help close the loop for textiles that currently have no end-of-life solution, turning what currently is regarded as waste into high value product again.
We interview Heather Bone, ESG Director at Team Global Express, an Australian-owned freight and transport logistics business primarily operating across Australia and New Zealand. They operate over 7000 trucks, 41 planes, 2 ships, and 150 properties. The commercial transportation sector is one of the hardest to abate sectors and it effects us all.
Jump Charging was established by Jamie Gray and Alex Watson and is a New Zealand owned and operated business specialising in the supply of commercial electric vehicle charging, and green hydrogen fuelling infrastructure solutions.
Janus Electric is a global leader in battery swap technology for heavy transport, and were the first in the world to have commercial operations on the road. This interview gives a great insight into one of the important routes to decarbonising heavy road transport.
Global Shipping is one of the hardest to abate sectors and one of the biggest polluters. We interview Shaun Mooney, the Executive General Manager Commercial for the Port of Melbourne and discuss the Port of Melbourne’s Green Methanol bunkering hub initiative, to be delivered alongside seven other partners.
Geoff Matthews discusses waste and recycling with Timothy Brake, a chemical engineer and waste management expert, and questions him on calling our current recycling and circular economy efforts "a fraud". Like climate scientists in the 1990’s, who rang early alarm bells, his opinions are well worth paying attention to.
We interview Dennis Savic, founder and CEO of Savic Motorcycles, Australia’s premium high-performance electric motorcycle company that's permanently changing the e-mobility landscape in Australia and beyond. The beauty of their design and and how well they function as a machine is game changing. With full order books and a waiting list, we are obviously not the only ones who agree.
Direct emissions from steel production were estimated at 2.6 billion tonnes, representing between 7% and 9%. of global CO2 emissions. Tata Steel take its emissions responsibility seriously and have embarked on R&D across the board to look at CO2 reductions. This project being run in the Netherlands is to reduce emissions in just one aspect of the steel production process.
Michele Bauer, Deputy Director-General, Department of State Development and Infrastructure, Queensland Government gives the opening address at SIM-PAC 2024.
